What Cause Frequent Sore Throat?
Doctor hope you will be fine. Now my flue reduced very much from last 3 days i have not receveid any blood in phlegm. but still i have phlegm. in morning i found my phlegym little brownish. that might be due to blood. but after the morning i have not received anything like blood or dark color.
Now doctor i have some questions that are burning my mind. First of All i have now clearly read one article that such type of bloody phlegm might be due to HIV infection. That gives me a lot of trouble. and from last one month i have flue 2nd time and this blood in phlegm. specialy in the morning. Although i studies that a little blood in phelgm is not of big concern. but bcz i have not found such thing before in my life. thats why i am asking your openion about this. in previous flue when i asked you one month back . flue finished in a week and after that i was compmetely ok and could not found any thing for a month. now i have a fear that i will always get flue very quickly and this blood in phelgm will again come . and these fears leads to HIV fear. (considering my hiv risk was very less and that was only one time ). now have still irritation in my throat and phlegm but its very less compared to before. Kindly tell me your openion about this. bcz its very difficult to live with such a fea
I do not see any reason to get fear....
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
I understand your fear, but I think you're worrying unnecessarily.
The presence of blood in phlegm is due inflammation. You're having sore throat too often recently. This makes your throat more fragile causing local laceration with blood in phlegm.
The reason you are having flu or sore throat too often could be due to:
- external factors (weather conditions)
- low immunity (eating habits, lifestyle, etc)
Following the advice as given at our last discussion can help.
With regards to HIV, we do consider if you have high risk to get HIV such as sexual habits. If you say not to be part of high risk category, then no fear.
Hope my answers ease up your mind.

Mucolytic/antihistaminic...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back ,
I'm very glad to know no more blood was found in your phlegm.
In patients like you who are more susceptible to flu, I recommend mucolytic like carbocystein or acetylcystein together with an antihistaminic.
Immune system boosters like multivitamin supplements are also advised.
If stomach problems will be present, then continue with antacids.
Hope it helped.
