Brief Answer:
Cause of eosinophilia is important, please provide more details

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to know more about you as follows:

a. I would like to know complete blood counts including hemoglobin, total WBC counts, differential WBC counts with eosinophils and platelet counts.

b. I would like to know what kind of allergies you have. How allergies were diagnosed. What other tests you underwent for identification of allergies.

c. I would like to know about your cough & cold symptoms. Since when, how frequent, what are the symptoms (running nose, nose congestion, sneezing, nose itching, throat pains, cough, etc.)

d. Do you have asthma? Have you ever had wheezing, shortness of breath, etc?

e. Do you have any digestion related complaints - constipation, repeated diarrhea, repeated stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, feeling sour fluid especially after heavy meals, etc

f. Do you have any other medical conditions?

g. Do you take any other medications regularly/frequently?

h. When was the first time eosinophilia detected? What were the counts at that time? How many times have you had eosinophilia and how many times have you had normal eosinophil counts? Can you please give more details?

Above details would help me to know about your health problems better and therefore to make more specific suggestions for you.

At present, from your provided information, I would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. There are numerous causes for eosinophilia. Only eosinophilia does not mean allergies and all allergies do not have eosinophilia. Rather, only 40-50% of allergies have eosinophilia.

2. There are many other tests that are better than eosinophilia to detect allergies.

3. Allergies are best diagnosed by detailed information about symptoms supported by some useful testing. Any test alone cannot diagnose or rule out allergic disorder.

4. For any condition causing eosinophilia, treatment of the condition is the only way to reduce eosinophilia. There is no specific treatment for eosinophilia itself.

This is why I would like to know more about your eosinophilia, other investigations and your health problems. So that I can make more specific suggestions for you.

Hope above information will be helpful to you.

Please feel free to ask any query on follow-up. Of course, please provide the asked details on follow-up.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards,

Dr Parin N Parmar
