What Cause Pain And Swelling Eyes After Head Injury?

i had a head injury about nine years ago- the back of my head smashed pavement- aside from chronic head neck and back pains i am also in the past several years - awakening with one or the other (never the same time).... and i awake with MASSIVE eye pain, and the eye is just swelled alomst shut, (like droopy too) with redness on the eyelid. could this be related to the head injury nine years ago???? i sustained a bloodclot, fluid on the brain etc.
i do know i cannot be diagnosed over the internet but any direction would be most helpful
thank you.

Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.
I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history. The symptoms of eye pain, redness and swollen eyes is not related to head injury which is of 9 years old.
These symptoms indicate infection of the eye. Since these episodes are recurrent, chronic infection with recurrent exacerbation needs to be ruled out.
The common causes to be considered are preseptal cellulitis of eye lid, inflammations of eyelid. conjunctivitis, dacryocystitis....
As of now you need treatment by the use of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.
Since the episodes are recurrent do consult your eye doctor for examination to find out the underlying cause and treatment of the specific underlying cause.
If possible do send a photo of the affected eye so that I can advice you more accurately.
Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
Thank you
with regards

thx for your time though.
Usually acute symptoms are not seen after 9 years.

Hello
Thank you for the follow up question.
I can understand your concerns. Head injury with concussion injury to the brain can affect vision, sensations of smell...
But acute symptoms of pain, redness, swollen eyes are usually caused by infection of the eyes. These symptoms can be seen immediately following head injury but these are not seen after 9 years of injury.
Only rare things like injury induced aneurysms can present later with symptoms of acute pain, redness, swelling...
But these will have associated neurological symptoms, since in your case these symptoms are not present, your symptoms are most probably because of infection.
It is better from the treatment point of view if these symptoms are because of infection as it can be cured completely with appropriate treatment.
Hope the information is helpful to you.
Take care
Thank you
