What Cause Pain In Bones After Switching From Crestor Calcium To Pravastatin Sodium?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Oct 2014
Question: Took Crestor 10 mg for many years with no problems at all. Express Scripts denied to refill and substituted Crestor Calcium with Pravastatin Sodium 40 mg. I do not feel right since then = bone pains in legs, hips and knees, skin wounds from mosquito bites which don't heal. Developed an animosity to sodium intake.

Brief Answer:
Why not continue crestor?

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mrs XXXXXXX
crestor is the most effective statin. 10mg of crestor are probably more effective than 40mg of pravastatin. With that in mind, it's a little hard to associate your symptoms to the new drug, although it can't be excluded. You mentioned Lipitor. Lipitor is less potent than crestor. 10mg of crestor is marginally less potent than 40mg of lipitor. The pain to the hips, kness, legs are common side effects of statins. I don't know of any negative association between wound healing and statins though. Actually the opposite is speculated.

Also, a single pill of statin can't contain that much sodium to substantially affect your body.

In any case, if you have symptoms with pravastatin then you should try crestor again, particularly if you lipid levels were on track with it.
I hope I've addressed your concerns!
If you have any more questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to answer!
Kind Regards!
