What Cause Swollen And Painful Lymph Nodes Under The Jawline And Neck Pain?

Question: I have two swollen lymph nodes right under my jawline for more than a month, they are painful. I'm having a neck pain as well. I do believe that the lymph nodes in the back of my neck are swollen as well as i'm experiencing pain in the back of my head. I have been to my doctor twice, done full blood test (I have not checked my thyroid) and everything came back clear. i have also been to the dentist as my wisdom teeth are coming out and he is positive that my wisdom teeth are fine and not causing that problem. What can possibly cause this problem could it be muscle strain because I'm a computer engineer student and i spend lot of time on my computer.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. That your lymph nodes are painful is actually a sign of relief. Painful indicates infective cause. Such an infection is likely to be localized. Wisdom tooth has already been accounted for. However, there are many small glands in our mouth secreting saliva and other juices and it is likely that the infection is located in such places. Such infections might be hard to detect. Since a thorough workup has already been done, systemic causes should already have been evaluated for and you need not worry about them. However, muscle strain is unlikely to lead to such a condition.

The next line of workup would be to get a FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) followed by biopsy done. However, I doubt if those would be necessary.

Hi, I just want to mention as well that the day I first experienced a pain in my neck I accedently had an expired coconut milk in the morning and I forgot to mention that to my doctor. Could that be the problem? Will antibiotic cure that?

Expired coconut milk will not give you pain in the neck. Unless associated with bloody diarrhea, I do not think that antibiotics would be necessary.
