What Caused Blocked Nose After Painting A Wooden Table?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Jul 2015
Question: my DH stained a wooden table top outside in our balcony and didnt allow any any stain fumes to penetrate inside the house..
The next day we brught the table inside and there was very little stain smell on the table , i started feeling blocked nose and ears and removed the table from the inside of the house to the balcony..

The same thing happened to day after 3 days of staining
What may be the reason for this?

I am also pregnant right now,...

Brief Answer:
This is due to the paint fumes emitting out from the chemicals.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Most of the pregnant Women become extra sensitive to smells especially if it is pungent and is coming out of chemical like those present in paints. These fumes come out of the paints/stains for a couple of days or upto a week.

You got an acute but mild allergic reaction to the fumes that were still being emitted from the paint/stain applied on top of the table. It is highly recommended for you to keep the table in open air in balcony for almost one more week. Once the paint chemicals settle down completely they will stop emitting fumes of volatile chemicals, You may take the table inside the home.

The paint fumes safety isn't studied well in pregnant women. So better to avoid it.

Brief Answer:
None.

Detailed Answer:
I welcome you back. Thanks for the comments. I am always there to help you.

No, there is no risk to the baby right now. This is such a low dose of chemical vapours that are insignificant to cross the placenta and harm the baby. Your cute baby is safe. I pray for a normal and eventless delivery for you.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future too during the pregnancy or post partum, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.
