Specific antibiotic s & life style changes would help.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for the query under HCM forum.
I have read your query & understand your concern.
* Helicobacter Pylori are the organisms which cause the infection of stomach, This infection is major cause of peptic ulcer. Many a times , presence of infection is not realized & only peptic ulcer is treated .. which becomes a chronic problem.
* You have been taking Pantoprazole for one month(which is to treat gastro esophageal regurgitation.). It does not have any effect on the bacterias H pylori. So though you had taken the medicine, you just had symptomatic relief.. but repeat test for H pylori infection came back +ve.
* Management-of H pylori essentially involves antibiotics to kill the bacterias & remove the root cause, Many a times the bacterias get resistant to antibiotic & infection remains active. So many a times two antibiotics are given at a time.
- So usually a triple medicine therapy is given for first week of treatment ( Two antibiotics along with proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole ). Some times repeated courses of antibiotics are needed to cure the infection ,followed by meticulous lifestyle changes & Omeprazole like tablets for few months ,to avoid recurrence,
* life style changes- With medications few life style changes assist in healing/ preventing recurrence of the infection. They are,
- Having non oily, non spicy food , cold milk, salads, fruits, boiled vegetables . It is to be taken in form of frequent & small servings.Drinking plenty of water.
- Avoid fasting irregular eating habit/ over eating. avoid alcohol/ smoking.
- Avoid psychological stress.
* Taking into consideration all these things, I would advise to consult a Gastroenterologist . After assessing your health with detailed examination/ investigations- he will prescribe you proper medicines to cure you of the condition.
I am sure with methodical treatment plan & life style.. you will get rid of your trouble.
I hope, the answer has provided sufficient information & help to you.
