What Causes Potassium Citrate To Stay Undissolved In System?
Question: I am taking potassium cit 1080mg 10meq tabs, 1tablet 3 times per day. I have recurring kidney stones. I've been taking this medicine since 01/6/15. I am now seeing the tablets in my stool. What's wrong?

If you are seeing the tablets in the stools, they are not dissolving.
Some tablets have a matrix which releases the active ingredient and the matrix is passed out.

It is just as I thought. It is an extended release tablet . Therefore it doesn't dissolve but release the active ingredient over a period of time. The inactive matrix is passed out.
