Brief Answer:
Low vitamin D and calcium can be a cause of it.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Low vitamin D and calcium can be a reason for this. So better to go for vitamin D level in blood. If it is low then taking vitamin D and calcium supplements will e helpful to clear this. Vitamin D 600 IU is needed for normal adult till 70years and from 70 years 800 IU is required. Those who are getting low sun exposure are usually at risk of low vitamin D.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

I took blood test for vit D last year about this time and doc said it was okay. At what level should it be at when you get test results back? Also, I used to take calcium supps with it, about 1200 mgs per day. Should I go back on the calcium also? And if so, how much per day? Is there any medical test for calcium in one's body?
Brief Answer:
20 to 50 nano grams per ml is the normal range of vit D.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.
Thank you for your follow up query.
20 to 50 nanograms per ml is the normal level of vitamin D in blood. If below 12 ng /ml then it is considered as deficiency. It is better to take calcium supplements. the required amount to take for your age is 1200mg daily. Calcium in the blood can be measured by blood tests. But this doesn't give the bone calcium level information. You can go for a DEXA scan to find out the bone mineral density. This test can predict whether you are at risk of fracture also.
