What Causes A Dent On Head After A Head Injury?
Question: I hit my head fairly hard this morning on the corner of a wooden desk. I really hurt at the time, but now there is no pain unless I touch the area. when I do I can feel a dent about the size of a thumb print.
Brief Answer:
I'm not sure what you are asking
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting your query.
Are you asking if this is bad or is it possible?
It is unlikely that your head has a dent just from hitting your head, either the dent was already there, it's a part of normal anatomy, or there is swelling around the area that makes it seem like a dent.
The skull is very hard and does not really dent without breaking.
Tell me where the dent is and maybe I can help.
Regards

The indentation is located on the right side of my head about two inches down from the top and about two inches in from my hairline. It may have been there before and I never noticed/felt it until today because that is where I hit it this morning. Although it doesn't feel swollen to me it may be, which may be the reason it feels like an indentation. I was more concerned that is still so tender after so many hours, and wondered if it was something I should have x-rayed, or if I'm making a big deal out of nothing. It's been 9 hours and I don't really have any other issues/symptoms. My GP doesn't want me taking anything for pain (asprin, aleve, etc.) because I have ulcerative Colitis.
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about
Detailed Answer:
no need to get a skull xray. even if it was a fracture it would heal on it's own without anyone doing anything. that said I doubt it's a fracture, probably been there all along especially if you have a simlar one on the other side
