
What Causes A Feeling Of Mucus At The Bottom Of Throat?

Question: For last couple of weeks I have had a mucus feel in bottom of my throat. Also when I touch the outside of my throat I feel as if I'm gonna get sick.. what can this be.

Yes I do smoke.
I do have acid reflux and take omeprazole every other day.
Throat is sore when I swallow.
No known dripping nasal is clear of runny mucus.

Hi and thanks for the details,
Acid reflux can cause foreign body sensation in the throat and sore throat as well.
Along with omeprazole you may need a prokinetic like domperidone or cinitapride. It will propel the stomach contents into the intestine and reduce the reflux.
If symptoms of reflux have been there for a long time then you may need an upper GI endoscopy to look at the possible causes for reflux.
Another differential diagnosis could be throat infection. it can also produce soreness and excess mucus in the throat. Though symptomatic evidence of infection is poor in your case, I will urge you to see a doctor to differentiate the condition clinically, since only examination will tell the difference,
