What Causes A Hard Painful Lump On Collarbone?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Aug 2014
Question: My husband has a hard painful lump on his right collarbone. This area started hurting yesterday, which is also when he first noticed it. The area does not seem to be XXXXXXX and is as hard as bone. He has no fever, it is not red or hot. Could this be a cyst or a bone spur? Or could it be something else?

I'm not sure if it would be relevant, his father passed away from melanoma.
Thank you for your time.

Brief Answer:
X-ray chest required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

The first thing that you need to do is to get a X-ray of the chest region. An X-ray chest includes the details of bilateral collar bones also
X-ray will determine whether the swelling or lump is arising from the bone or from surrounding structures.

Further work up will be decided on the results of the X-ray chest.
Kindly, get the investigation after consulting your primary healthcare provider and post the results.
I will be able to help you further after X-ray chest report.

Thanks
