What Causes A Hive Like Rash Over Thyroid Gland Area?
Question: I began Armour thyroid almost four months ago. I have had two or three episodes of an hive like butterfly shaped rash just over my thyroid gland. Could it be the med? Or is it contact dermatitis?

Localized hive like rash over thyroid gland area is most likely a result of Contact dermatitis. It may be due to any metal, synthetic clothing, woolen, deodrant, any cosmetic etc.
In such cases, avoidance of allergen is the most important part of treatment. Besides this, I advice my such patients to take oral antihistaminics like levocetrizine and apply topical mild to moderate potency topical steroid like mometasone over the rash.
