What Causes A Knot Above The Incision Site After Chemotherpy?

Question: My husband who is 73 yrs. old has emphysema and was just recently diagnosed with 4th stage small cell liver cancer. He has had two rounds of Chemotherpy since Feb. 16th, 2014. This is a Sunday afternoon(evening) and he has discovered a marble sized knot about an inch above his port site (incision. There is not redness or pain, discomfort ,or etc. with this knot, but he needs to know if we should go to the emergency room to see if it is a blood clot or embolism? He has no shortness of breath at the moment, but anxiety will bring it on sometimes and we don't want to have that happen on a weekend! Could you tell us that it would be ok to wait until Monday morning and contact his oncologist? Thank you very much
Brief Answer:
may wait for 1-2 days
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
As it is very small and there is no redness or tenderness, it is unlikely to be anything serious.
Hence he can wait for sometime before seeing his doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. I will be available to answer further followup queries, if any.
