What Causes A Lump In The Groin Area?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 May 2017
Question: I have had a lump about the size of a grape in my groin for about 2 months now, its tender and gets larger and smaller but hasn't gone away. An ultra sound showed a cystic appearing lesion that could be a hydrocele. I am now scheduled for an MRI. What does that information mean? What could this lump be?

-I did not have any injury to leg or the groin that I recall, but I am very active at gym and work
-I attached a photo I took myself
-It hurts if it is poked hard but not if gently touched, some occasional mild pain in thigh/groin but not sure if its related, wearing tight clothes like jeans seems to irritate it. Seems to get bigger/bother me more after being active all day rather than the morning but not always.
-No skin color or temperature changes
-No pus or discharge
-No leg swelling or fever
-I do not have a copy of the ultrasound

Brief Answer:
Respected XXXX, hi it`s lymph-node/lipoma requiring surgery not MRI.

Detailed Answer:
Resepcted XXXX, Hi nice to get every answers with perfection from your side.
*Photograph reveals it as Lymph Node enlargement / Subcutaneous lipoma only.
*I strongly recommend you to get it Surgrically removed by Expert Consultant
Surgery in form of Excision & get biopsy of that to confirm internal contents.
*I strongly disagree for the need of MRI in your case.
Welcome for any further assistance.
Regards.

I am fearful of resorting to surgery, is there any alternatives to reduce the size of the lump? Is this a risky surgery with a long recovery time? My job as a waitress requires me to be active physically and I am afraid of not being able to work for a long time. Is there a high chance of me having cancer?

Brief Answer:
Respected XXXX,Lymph-node excision at convinience, not in emergency.

Detailed Answer:
Respected XXXX, Hi
*Alternatives to reduce size of the lump are only antibiotics ( in our clinic we
recommend Penicillin group according to patient sensitivity & clinical need )
for 10-14 days which is trial treatment & usually have very less chances of
reducing lump size as its already past 2 months.
*Surgery is not risky at all , it is a day care procedure done under Local
Anaesthesia , you can get home within 2 hours , can go back to work within 24
hours , no need of prolong bed rest at all.
*Don`t afraid of cancer at present dear . This is non-specific lymph node
enlargement mostly.
*Even for surgery it`s not emergency , you can take it on your own time ,just
watch for following signs in which you may require to take early decision :
- sudden increase in size of swelling , increased pain
- redness over that part , any pus discharge
- associated fever , anorexia , weight loss or any other systemic problem.
Hope this clears your further doubts precisely.
Welcome for any further questions or query else I request you to rate my
answer and close the discussion.
Regards take care.
