What Causes A Lump In The Throat When Diagnosed With Type-2 Diabetes?

Question: I am a 69 year old male with type two diabetes diagnosed two years ago. Today, I noticed a painless lump in the front of my lower throat below the Adam's Apple. I don't recall seeing this before.
Brief Answer:
Thyroid nodule suspected;
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
From your description i think it is a thyroid nodule and the thyroid ultrasound is needed to verify it, giving also further information about it's characteristics (the dimensions of the nodule, rather it is cystic or solid ect).
The thyroid function should also be evaluated by checking thyroid hormones (TSH, Ft4 and Ft3).
It is not related to Diabetes.
Will be a pleasure to help you further after the above results.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
