What Causes A Lump Near The Upper Wall Of The Nose?
Question: when I press har on the left upper side of te nose, I feel a small lump, it does not hurt nor is noticeable. what could it be it is closed to the nasolacrimal gland , but it is really closer to the nose
Brief Answer:
Likely to be lacrimal sac
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
The position corresponds to lacrimal sac, otherwise there are not too many significant structures there to give rise to a noticeable lump in that region.
Do you have significant watering or slight discharge in the morning from that eye.If totally asymptomatic we prefer not to treat it,still, try to press it, gently to begin with, then firmly increasing the pressure and notice if the contents are expressed in the nose or eye,as these are two openings the sac has.
If no change on increasing pressure,we would suggest the lump to be examined.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Hi thank you for your response. The tiny lump is not noticeable . the tiny bump is closer to the upper wall of the nose . I do not see it unless I press hard. What type of doctor should I see an ophthalmologist?
Brief Answer:
It can be a benign lipoma
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
This can also be a small lump of fat, called lipoma. These are very benign swellings. To begin with a GP should be able to diagnose and thereby guide you as to what to do next.Ignore or keep it under observation.
