What Causes A Lump On Centre Of Chest?
Question: I have a large lump on my chest, just below my neck. My family doctor said that it was just a fatty tissue, however after he finished pressing and pushing on it, I have spent the last two days with horrible acid reflex burning worse than ever. He nor his superior had seen this before. I'm getting concerned with it. It has always been there since I can remember anyway and a lot of people ask about it when they see it. Is this common with people who have acid reflex for a long time like me. It appears that the lump goes down to a hardened state and then it gets bigger to where it is in a flabby state. I'm 56 yrs old and has had acid reflex since I was very young.

Hi,
I have gone through your medical history and the photo you provided carefully and I can say as following :
- the mass you are referring is under the skin. I advise to run an ultrasound of the mass for further evaluation
- this mass is not causing acid reflux. Upper endoscopy is advised to evaluate the status of stomach for possible changes
For the moment, I advise to :
- make some changes in your diet to improve reflux symptoms
- be more physically active
- eat often and small portions
- do not lay down immediately after eating
- take antacids to stabilize stomach pH
Hope it was of help!

I will take your advice with having an ultrasound. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy this year, so I definitely will let the doctor know about my acid reflex flurr up. I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and back spinal disc issues, so it is extremely hard to exercise. I do try walking on the treadmill some but I don't run an Olympic. My health has actually been going down for the past two years after having the shingles and falling down the stairs twice. I have extreme allergy issues, so it is hard to eat healthy. Anything red, orange, or yellow is my enemy. Was it just a coincidence that pressing on the flesh so much triggered my acid horribly soon after visiting the doctor? My chest is burning the moment I wake up. It hasn't flurred up like this for over 20 years. Also, is there a good diet plan for people with extreme allergies and Fibromyalgia and back issues? Thank you!

Hi back
With regard to the pain after visiting doctor I thing that it is not related with pressing on the large lump.It is a coincidence.
With regard to diet plain for allergy you need to avoid allergens and use anti- histamine drugs.
To my opinion you should take care of the diet to improve GERD(acid reflux) like
avoid coffee, chocolate, tea, smoking, spicy foods, carbonated drinks.
With regard to back issues and Fibromyalgia I would recommend to do physiotherapy and use acetaminophen to relief pain. You should lose weight too. Swimming helps a lot in fibromyalgia.
Pleas do not use NSAID-s to relieve pain because these drug will aggravate you stomach problems.
wishing you all the best
