Question : I stepped backwards and my heel went into a hole in my yard. I pulled my achilles tendon very hard. I have a knot about the size of a golf ball a few inches above my heel. Should I apply ice or heat?

Hello,
I have studied your case. I think you may have torn your achilis tendon. I would suggest you to follow these steps.
1.Ice application
2.Rest
3.Get ultrasound examination of the achilis tendon. if you found that there is any tear then it needs to be repaired. if there is only strain and blood collection then you can continue to do rest, ice and splinting.
