What Causes A Painful Bump On The Back After A Spider Bite?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Nov 2016
Question: Apparent spider bite on upper back, only small mark on skin but a 5x8 cm mass under the skin that is painful to the touch. It started out feeling like a lipoma but is getting harder to the touch. About 24 hours from possible bite. Not sure about a spider. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
You need to get it a checkup ideally.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care Magic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

Untill there is no surety that this is actually a spider bite one can not call it so, this swelling you are talking about is quite a big one and this needs to be taken care of. Lipomas are not painful and I think by now you know that too that it might not be a lipoma. It can be an absess or a cyst or anything this needs to be worked up and checked by a doctor.

I would suggest you to visit your doctor and get this checked up small mark can be bite or it can be just an opening of this swelling , it needs to be checked up so that a timely treatment can be started. Till then i would suggest you to keep icing it twice a day till you get a checkup. Medication will only be suggested after a proper checkup.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.
