Question: I am 67 yrs old and tested positive for herpes. The test was taken after a severe bladder and yeast infection. Could this have anything to do with the results. I have never ever had a symptom or breakout after being married 18 yrs the first time and 28 yrs the second time

Brief Answer:
Herpes testing

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are worried that a recent test fro herpes was positive despite never having symptoms. There are 2 types of herpes type 1 and type 2. Genital herpes is usually a type 2 infection. Type one is usually the oral canker sores on the lips or mouth. Your test could be positive either of these infections a long time ago. Since you have had no outbreaks then I would not be concerned. I would look closely at the results and see which type you were positive with and if it was IgG or IgM. These results need to be interpreted with caution.

Your recent bladder and yeast infection would not have influenced the test.
