What Causes A Random Burnt Rubber Like Smell?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Feb 2015
Question: My husband randomly smells like burnt rubber. It's on and off. His office will smell like it too when he smells like it. He passes a home drug test. His moids change out of no where. It's driving me crazy bc I don't know what's going on. He gets angry, almost enraged, when I point it out. His behaviors are all over the place. Please provide me w some insight. I'm an RN and own my own Home Health Agency. I'm not stupid. I know something isn't right . I just don't know what.

Brief Answer:
A few points that need discussing ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. You are quite right in understanding that there is no doubt some thing wrong. I have a few points that may need your understanding and a few that may need your response, I shall list them all out for you.

+Could you rate his fluid consumption on a scale of 5. 0 being no fluid intake at all, and 5 being excellent.

+Does he have a high level of sugar intake? Please cut down on these immediately.

+Any other type of foods that after consumption, usually result in the burnt rubber like smell?

+He may need an elaborate renal function and structural examination. (E.g. blood test to check on renal function, ultrasound KUB)

+Urine analysis is mandatory

+Has he reported or have you noticed any muscle weakness of any kind?

In my opinion, there could be some underlying abnormality either in his renal tract (kidney, ureters, bladder) or other conditions like fibromyalgia. Please write back to me with your response, and I shall advise you further ma'am. For now, keep an eye on him and report any thing you observe worth mentioning.

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further. Please do not hesitate to write to me about anything. I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
