Tight socks can cause a temporary indentation at the upper area where the socks are more tight. The area underneath the indentation might get a little swallen due to edema from the pressure applied by the indentation and preventing some of the blood to circulate as usual.

These are all normal changes with tight socks and should go back to normal after you take the socks off for a couple of hours.

If the indentation stays there after hours that you have put off your socks than this is not usual and a visit with your doctor is necessary to make sure all is well.

It also should not cause pain or changes in skin color. If the area is painful or the skin changes color please see your doctor.
