What Causes A Small Lump Inside Buttock?

Question: I had a small lump below the skin on my right buttocks looked at 4 weeks ago and the physician's assistant thought it was benign. I have had it for many years. I think it may have gotten bigger since my visit last month, though. I'm not 100% sure. It's possible the worry about it getting bigger is just in my mind. But I just noticed another small one too. I will go back to the doctor but I'm very anxious and I wanted to know what are the odds that this might be cancer? Also, if it is cancer (and if it has spread to another spot since I just noticed it), what would be the prognosis? What kind of a doctor would I go to to if I wanted a biopsy? The first one is on the buttocks and the other is lower back. I am a 35 year old man who is otherwise healthy but I do have arthritis in many joints. I've had the arthritis for years and no one knows why.
Brief Answer:
probably benign
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Most probably it will turn out to be benign. As you said, probably it is not growing. How does it feel? Is it soft and movable? Then it is certainly benign.
Sometimes these things cause lot of anxiety. Hence best will be another doctor consult, maybe with a surgeon. He can do a biopsy but only if it is suspicious.
Even if it turns out to cancer ( unlikely event) , as it is small it can be operated out with good results.
Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
