What kinds of things might cause a detached retina? Trauma, such as being hit in the eye, I know, can cause it. But there has been no trauma, no falls. Any ideas? thanks.
Brief Answer:
Detached retina
Detailed Answer:
A detached retina will just happen. There is usually no injury or trauma that causes the retina to become detached. It can become detached if there is direct trauma to the eye like a baseball hitting the eye but the most common cause is severe myopia or nearsightedness. The shape of the eye is elongated in myopia and may stretch the retina causing it to detach. Please see your doctor today so they can treat the problem.
