What Causes A Spreading Rash On The Upper Chest?

Question: I have a spotty rash on my upper chest/back, with some spots going down to my abdomen. They are round, not raised, not itchy......... Just redness of my skin. They are much more noticeable when I get out of a hot shower or exercise. Any idea what it might be?

The red rash you are describing that becomes more noticable after hot shower and physical activity is suggestive of Pityriasis rosea.The condition is benign and eventually go away by itself without any treatment.It commonly occur during spring season.
But other possibilities like fungal infection need to be looked for.I recommend that you consult your primary care physician / dermatologist.He/she will do a physical examination and do microscopic examination of skin scrapings to look for any fungal infection.
If itching develops over the counter corticosteroid creams and antihistamine cetrizine (10mg at bed time) can be used.However steroid oinment should be used only after confirming the diagnosis and ruling out fungal infection.
