What Causes A Warm Sensation In My Ear?
Question: I have a warm sensation in my ear? What could be causing this?
Brief Answer:
Get your ear checked for signs of infection or inflammation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. A transient sensation of warmth in the ear may have no significance if it is due to increased blood flow or a referred sensation (as the ear is supplied sensation by many nerves that supply a vast area from the head, neck, chest to the upper abdomen).
2. A persistent warm sensation in the ear will require a check-up as this is likely to be due to early inflammation or infection.
3. Is there any decreased hearing, any previous ear trauma (even minor such as ear cleaning), wax build-up or have you recently gone swimming?
If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
