Instead of taking Zantac , you have start with the proton pump inhibitors like Tab Omeprazole/pantaprazole with combination of Domperidone to avoid burp/food regurgitation, So start with Tab Omez-D
As you have chronic gastritis rule out h.pylori infection by urea breath test...
If positive accordingly drug given like omeprazole plus ampicillin and clarithromycine...
Mean while avoid gastric irritants like.....
-smoking
-alcohol
-self medication
-NSAIDs (pain killers)
