What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Frequent Urination?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Jul 2017
Question: Hi, I'm currently experiencing a full bloating feeling, to the point where I can't eat anything else, feel like I'm going to explode and then last night, I began frequent urination, accompanied by chills and sweats. When I say frequent, I mean every 20 mins for several hours and lasting most of the night. When I woke up this morning, I've lost weight (8-10) lbs of water and bowel release and begin to feel better.
This cycle has been repeating itself for years and is getting worse.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query,
I am a Gastroenterologist and would be answering your query.

As per your history right now you are having two problem overlapping each other i.e a urinary tract infection with severe digestion issues.

I would address both of them one by one.

1)"I began frequent urination, accompanied by chills and sweats. When I say frequent, I mean every 20 minutess for several hours and lasting most of the night. When I woke up this morning"

Most likely you are having recurrent urinary tract infections,The vast majority of UTI cases are caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli), usually found in the digestive system. Classical symptoms include high fever, diarrhea vomiting, dehydration, pain during urinating (dysuria), frequent urination, abnormal urge for urination.Women have a higher risk of suffering from this infection as compared to men. This is because women have a shorter urethra than men and hence the bacteria needs to travel a shorter distance to reach the bladder. Urinary tract infections can usually be treated easily with a course of antibiotics as long as they are detected in time. If not detected in time, it can affect the kidneys which make it a more serious problem.
As the problem is recurring again and again detailed investigation should be done.
Test suggested-
Renal ultrasound - Defines the location of the kidneys and their size and shape clearly rules out possibility of kidney stones.
Voiding cysto- urethrogram: The bladder is filled with a XXXXXXX through a catheter in this method. Then the catheter is removed to study if the bladder is getting emptied without any reflux or obstruction.
Urine routine and microscopy test-To see which bacteria is involved in infection.

2-Hi, I'm currently experiencing a full bloating feeling, to the point where I can't eat anything else, feel like I'm going to explode and then last night-

For bloating and gas take Tab Nexium 40mg twice daily can increase it to 80 mg twice daily.

Take a probiotic daily with food as proper digestion of food will prevent excess gas formation. When food is not properly digested large amount of gases are produced inside due to incomplete fermentation of food.Hence if digestion improves overall symptoms will also improve. There are hundreds of species of bacteria which lives in our intestinal l tract. These bacterias and yeast are responsible for proper digestion and fermentation of food.Even minor disturbances in gut microflora can lead to significant changes in gut function, including gas production..There are various mechanism that can be related to increased bloating. If this microbiota is disturbed food is improperly fermented causing production of large amount of gases in gut leading to severe flatulence.Hence most commmon cause in most of the cases is disturbed microbiota. In old patient mobility of intestines is severely compromised leading to accumulation of large amount of gases in intestines. As peristaltic moments are week gas accumulates in intestines.
Food pattern recommended is-
Eat simple and natural home cooked food.
If possible try detox diet (Raw vegans) for at least 3 month. Take normal food in lunch while in supper take uncooked raw (low fiber) natural form of food. This can play wonders.
Avoid taking excessive fibres. A total fiber intake of about 20-25 gram per day would be good for you.
No pizza,Burger, Red meat, and dairies for few weeks.
No alcohol or smoking.
Take natural food rich in probiotics like Yoghurt, Kimchi, etc. This doesn't mean that you have to take them as much as you can.Follow your body increase their uptake gradually.
Drink lots of juices and fresh water daily. Drink cleaner water, it will help a lot.
Avoid over spicy and heavy food.

If possible go for a detox diet but again don't force your body rather let your body adopt gradually to things.

In case you need any other help feel free to ask.I would be happy to help you.
Hope i answered your query well.

Thanks and Wish her luck.
