Hi.

You have mentioned that the bloating arises after meals. You've also informed me as to the fact that you've been cured of H Pylori infection. You've said that you have fears of ascites.

Now, note that though alcohol drinkers get ascites, it means a condition in which the stomach is protuding and has fluid in it. This can be confirmed on simple physical examination by a stethoscope and by percussion using the fingers.

And ascites has no link between meals and symptoms.

So, do note I feel that you have irritable bowel syndrome, mild, perhaps.

The best medication for this is colospa capsules and tablets. I suggest you take 300 mg strength mebeverine (the drug name of colospa) and take it before meals three times a day.

You will benefit greatly by taking a medicine called as Pantocid -IT.

This medicine contains Pantoprazole and Itopride combination. It's very soothing for a person like you and is frequently given with Colospa.

Don't worry about drinking, the habit, and alcohol addiction.

I can help you.

You need to join a group called as alcoholics anonymous. Please phone Justdial and ask for your local group in your city. The whole thing is free of cost. You need to attend counselling sessions and follow 12 steps of recovery from alcohol

Many people are free of alcohol today thanks to AA.

If you still wish to enjoy alcohol, I suggest that you try acamprosil, a medicine that reduces cravings for alcohol, so that you drink less. Your doctor will know about this medicine.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar

HI Doc .

How long should I have to take colospa and pantoacid-IT.

Presently I am on Rozavel-F-5/Telsar Ln 5 for past two months. I was drinking while on these medicines. Will this have caused any problem to the liver ?

Can I continue the IBS medicines with BP/Cholesterol medicines? Will there be any side effects?

Sometimes I get constipated and sometimes motion is loose. Is this symptoms of IBS. What are the other symptoms I should be aware of?
