What Causes Abdominal Distension After Meth Withdrawal?
Question: I quit smoking meth two weeks ago cold turkey. My worst symptom is abdominal distension which i figured was due to increased intake of food, but now seems really pronounced and abnormal. Its causing labored breathing and s.o.b. I'm also on oral steroids for an asthma attack two days ago. Ive taken my hctz like im suppposed to for hbp. Is there a digestive withdrawal from meth?
Brief Answer:
I think of two possibilities.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
In meth withdrawal digestive system is surely affected.
I can think of two possibilities in your case.Either it is gaseous distension with fecal stasis or ascitis. For this you can give try to gasex tablets or plain water enema.
If that fails then it can be due ascitis, such rapid distension of abdomen can be due to fluid collection in abdominal cavity. You will need an ultrasound to confirm this. And this will need doctors attention.
Give to measures I have suggested and if they fail to help, then see doctor and consider getting ultrasound done.
Hope this helps. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.
