What Causes Abdominal Pain And Heavy Menstruation 20 Days After Childbirth?
It is normal to have pain.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The pain in the lower abdomen after a childbirth- even if it is a cesarean section can persist for 4-6 weeks. The pains are due to uterine contractions that cause the uterus to contract to its original size. In case of cesarean section there can be an additional pain due to the internal stitches on the uterine wall. Since you had a bleeding episode recently, the pain can be due to both the reasons.
This is not worrisome. You can do a hot compress with a water bag in the area to have relief.
In case there is an extreme tenderness, difficulty in passing urine or stool or visible swelling or heaviness in the lower abdomen then you must consult your gynecologist for a direct examination and few investigations like ultrasound scan and urine analysis to find out the cause.

Because when I complained about bleeding restarting my obgyn's first question was whether I applied steam.
How long should I take rest. I am moving around the house for minimal needs and travel just to baby's doc for her check up.
Also I want to know when can I have a hot bath again as I used to hot bath before pregnancy. From the day pregnancy was confirmed I am taking warm water bath.
Rest for 3-4 more weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Applying a hot pack will cause an earlier healing of the internal stitches and will cause uterus to relax causing a decrease in the pain. It can cause an increase in the bleeding if the bleeding is already there but it is less likely to start a bleeding after it has stopped.
Usually a rest for 6 weeks is adequate. You can move around the house if it does not aggravate the pain.
You should wait for 3-4 more weeks before taking a hot bath.

Thanks for the detailed response. I have already told you about the bleeding I had last Thursday which soaked pad in an hour.obgyn gave me Trapic MF for four days.first day itself bleeding stopped. The dosage was over yesterday morning
But today it started bleeding again. Is it normal to have bleeding every week? How much bleeding should be there for concern? There is not much pain.
My c section was on November 4th
mild bleeding is normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The recurrent bleeding is due to uterine relaxation and stopping Trapic . It is normal to have such mild bleeding off and on till 6 weeks after delivery. In case the bleeding is heavy- needs more than 3 pads per day and persists for more than 5 days then it is worrisome and needs a treatment.

Yes you can resume normal life after 6 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Yes you can resume a normal life including travel and driving. Exercise has to be resumed gradually so that it does not put too much stress on your abdomen suddenly.
You can travel abroad after 3 months.
For hemorrhoids few lifestyle measures need to be incorporated.
1) You should increase the fiber in your diet by eating fruits and vegetables. Be a smart grocer, choose foods which have fibre more than 25gm in the nutrition information label
2) You can also sit in hot sitz bath by sitting in a shallow bucket with hot water three times a day. The heat would help in relieving the discomfort and pain of the hemorrhoids.
3) Application of local anesthetic gels and vaso constrictors like Preparation H are also useful.
4) However for specific treatment, you have to consult a surgeon. Some of the preferred methods are injection sclerotherapy, rubber band ligation and by surgical method like hemorrhoidectomy. Nowadays laser coagulation and infrared photocoagulation are also used.
