What Causes Abdominal Pain And Pain In The Ribs After Having A Gall Bladder Attack?
Question: I think I'm having a gall bladder attack. Severe stomach pain and pain behind my ribs. No vomiting. I've been experiencing the pain for 6 hours, there has been no improvement. I've tried antacids, no improvement. Should I seek medical help in the morning? I would not be able to drive due to the severity of the pain. It's constant and gets worse when I move. When I try to take a deep breath pain is definitely worse on my right side. I don't think it's a stomach bug, no vomiting, no diarrhea, never had a bug with this much pain. Should I seek help & if so should I go to an urgent care? Family doc will never get me in same day. Thank you
Brief Answer:
Urgent care or ER
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
With what you said you may be right about gall bladder inflammation. There are other reasons that mimic but everything needs basic abdominal examination plus ultrasound scan to ascertain right cause.
You should better head to an ER or urgent care quickly. At least they help you easing pain if couldn't find a cause.
wish you good health.

I tried brushing my teeth to go in & threw up, no symptom improvement at all. I just ant to be sure I'm not wasting anyone's time, could it have been something I ate? Would I have more severe stomach purging if that were the case? I'm in complete misery but don't want to wake my husband if it could wait until morning
Brief Answer:
Not a stomach bug
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
you can choose to wait till morning if you can bear the pain.
but I suppose it is not a stomach bug that could cause this.
