Posted on Sat, 3 May 2014
Question: Yes I am A 41 year old female who has had a change in bowel consistancys it started turning into sticky stuff that clings to the side of the toilet bowel after being flushed several times. I also have kidneys that I have been told are working too hard. I do have disks out in my back. I also have bone spurs in my neck and a cyst in my head. I am trying to look for answers to this condition to find out what's going on. I am in quite a bit of pain in my abdomen. My father passed away from a perforated ulcer and stomach cancer when he was 45 years old about 20 years ago.ok . I was also wanting you to know I failed the arm test and expulsion test. I had a test done where they fill your bladder backwards. They got the whole liter of fluid in me and I was unable to feel the need to go to the bathroom that test was done twice with the same results. I really do need to know what is going on with me. If you think I am really sick I need to know. I also need to know if what is happening in the other areas of my body plus the stress of it all, could be contributing to my color blindness.

Brief Answer: it could be malena Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanka for writing to HCM. Pain in abdomen, so much stress and stickey stools suggest that you may be having stomach ulcer which is bleeding, provided your stools are black in colour. If they are indeed black in color then its called malena, which is due to upper gi tract bleeding, mostly from stomach or duodenal ulcer, just like your father had. For this you need to get an upper gi endoscopy done to identify and control the bleeding point. Till that time you need to start on a ppi like omeprazole or pantaprazole in consultation with your local doctor for the prescription. As the loss of sensation to a full bladder, it may be due to your discs coming out of your back leading to compression of the spinal nerves supplying the bladder. And filling urine in an already full bladder is making your kidney work hard. So first of all you need to get yourself catheterized, if not already done, to releive pressure on your kidneys, followed by repair of those prolapsed disc by an orthopedic or neurosurgeon. Colour blindness is usually caused due to defeciency of vitamin A in diet. For that you need to eat foods rich in vit A, like carrots, papayas, green leafy vegetables, mangoes, etc. You can also take vit A capsules. Bone spurs in your neck can be due to cervical spondylosis and your orthopedic will be a better person to deal with it, as well as your prolapsed disc in the back. Regarding the brain cyst, i would need your mri report to know more about it, before i can comment anything on it. Hope i have been helpful. Regards Dr. Ashish Verma
