What Causes Abdominal Pain, Hard Stool, Abdominal Gas And Bloating?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: Hello doctor,

I've been suffering abdomen pain and discomfort, little hard stool, gas and bloating. Is this IBS?

for your reference, I had done my urine and stool tests which showed puss cells in both the tests.

I was told it's an intestinal infection, but does it show same symptoms? it's been more than a month and I still have these above said symptoms, so my question is does intestinal infections last that long?

If at all its an ins is there any complete cure in Ayurveda?

Also, I had ct scan done and gallbladder, kidney everything were fine except fatty liver.

Looking forward for your inputs.

Best regards,

Brief Answer:
symptomwise approach

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and following points should be considered while evaluating the cause and management.

1. Is the pain related to food? i.e. does pain aggravates or relieves after taking food

2. Since you have undergone certain investigations thus possible way to diagnose the condition will be:
. Opinion of Gastroenterologist.
. Sigmoidoscopy/ Colonoscopy
. K.U.B. X- ray and Barium enema (if needed)

3. If the opinion and investigation comes normal we can start the management on the line of "Grahani" [IBS], till then
. Avoid oily foods, avoid aerated drinks, smoking, overeating, peas, garlic, vinegar, sour and spicy food, excess water intake, undue physical exertion, chickpea flour, potato, onion, brinjal, tea/coffee,curd,day time sleeping.

Take: green gram, pigeon pea, bitter gourd, white gourd melon, green vegetables, old brown rice, harad, honey, pomegranate, rice gruel, banana, butter milk,mint/coriander.

4. Abdominal exercises are very useful for chronic flatulence and chronic constipation
. Eating a little less than demanded by apetite is important, regular moderate meals.

5. Chitrakadi vati ( half hour before meals)
. Kutjarishta 20 ml
Jeerakadyarishta 20 ml.. after meals for 21 days
. Prepare fresh buttermilk everyday and do not add water, add fried cumin seeds and rock salt (q.s.)
