Brief Answer:
You will need to have some tests and treatment guided by the results

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your quesiton and understand your concern.

Because you have these symptoms for a week now, it might be good to have some tests done.
Generally uncomplicated bowel infections do not last longer than 5 days and do not cause blood with stools.

You might be in need of some tests for example: Stools for ova and parasites, stool culture, stool microscopy, some stool antigen tests to check for parasites in stool and for bacterial infections also. Some blood tests like CBC and ERS might be done also.

If these tests do not show the cause of the bowel problems than an X-ray and a CT scan of the abdomen might be considered to rule out diverticulitis which is a kind of localized bowel infection but that needs antibiotics and careful medical monitoring.

I do not know if you have done a colonoscopy before, it is generally recommended after 55 years old to be done routinely. In your case you can not have it while you have the acute symptoms with abdominal pain and blood in diarrhea but when you improve you will need to have a colonoscopy done also.

Very likely you will need antibiotics, fluids, rest and regular visits to see your progress. So please set an appointment with your doctor and make sure you have the appropriate checks.

I hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
I wish you a quick healing
