What Causes Abdominal Pain With Altered Bowel Movements, head Ache And Fatigue?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: I am going to contact my doctor this morning but I would like your opinion. On Friday I started with very low abdominal pains. It lasted all day. During the day I expected diarrhea but the only thing that came out was a mucus sort of stuff with flecks of.blood. since then my abdomen has stayed tender, the acute pains are gone, and I have had just a little bowel movement. At first I thought it might be food poisoning but I never heard of that lasting this long.
I had a colonoscopy 3 months ago. All good. I took a mild laxative yesterday morning with little effect.
I have had no fever. Lots of headache and fatigue.
What do you think?

Brief Answer:
It may be a bladder or bowel infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.
Abdominal pain, altered bowel movements, head ache and fatigue can indicate either a bowel infection, like proctitis or urinary tract infection(UTI very commonly causes bowel disturbances-like you get an irritating urge to empty your bowel, but nothing comes out).UTI can be associated with features like increased frequency or burning sensation on urination with or without nausea.Headache and fatigue is more favoring of UTI.
This can usually be distinguished by an abdominal examination, with investigations like urine examination if needed. Both these conditions can be treated with antibiotics and simple analgesics for a few days.Your doctor will guide you.
Meanwhile, take a light diet rich in fruits and veges, and plenty of oral fluids.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions,I will be happy to help.
Wishing for a faster cure,Thank you.
