Posted on Tue, 3 Jun 2014
Question: Every night when I go to bed my body quivers and especially my right foot moves up and down--my neuro suggested 1/2 tablet of sinemet. The sinemet helps sometime and others it is ineffectual. All of this happens when my last dosage of P D MEDS (taken around 5:30 pm)wears off. Any suggestion or advice is welcome

Brief Answer:
You can take a tablet of Sinemet CR at night.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. These are suggestive of dyskinesia- abnormal involuntary movements. In your case, these are end-of-dose dyskinesia, as they are occurring after the effect of last dose of medications wear off.

In this situation, taking a dose of Sinemet CR (250 mg or 275 mg) at night would be useful.

Amantadine capsules could also be helpful.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
