What Causes Abnormal Involuntary Movements Of The Face?
Question: Good afternoon,
Over the past two weeks I have been observing behavioral changes in a long term employee that I am very close to. He recently was required to migrate from a med - think Abilify to a different med . It has not at all agreed with him - major stomach issues. That said - over the past few weeks - his face is in almost constant motion when he is working. Personality and work are as-always, though now whenever he is engaged in a meeting or task, his face is in almost constant motion. It reminds me of expressions I've seen very elderly people make - pushing out chin, appearing to chew, pushing upper and lower lip (separate motions), squinting, eybrow raising then scowling....widening eyes......he does not seem to be aware of this and He is very close to me - very upfront about life and health issues....we just finished a one hour conference call and his face did not stop moving. Should I suggest that he mention this to his provider?

Brief Answer:
Talk about it to him and advise that he brings this to his physician!!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for contacting us. It is great to know you have a good heart and love to help your employee.
I will suggest that you kindly discuss this with him at first. Just explain what you have noticed so far to him and ask if it is something he’s already aware of. If he is, fine. If he is not aware, advise that he reports this to his doctor for review and manage accordingly.
I hope this guides. Let me know how the discussion goes and what his responses are. I must commend your good heart and the concern about the health of your friend/colleague.
Kind regards
