What Causes Abnormal Uterine Bleeding?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Dec 2015
Question: Hi. I was 4 days late for my period (which never happens). I continuously tested negative on an at home pregnancy test. I went to my doctor who said I was definitely pregnant, just not enough hormones yet and to wait a week. 4 days later, I went to bed with mild cramps, and I woke up in the middle of the night with extremely painful cramps. They lessened by mid morning on day 9 overdue (5weeks 2 days pregnant) Around noon I started bleeding. I have heavy blood, but only little clots for two days, I read that you should wear a pad to allow the clots to flush. I did except today, the bleeding had slowed and I used a tampon. The tampon really started to hurt this evening, and now I am only spotting. Could I have messed up and not let clots flush? And are miscarriages usually this short? I have three healthy children this is my first miscarriage.

I had not since I started the bleding, and I did this morning once I saw this. Still negative, no more bleeding at all either since last night. I have no insurance so I have not requested an ultrasound. I only do testing if absolutely necessary.

The bleeding has started back up about 20 minutes ago.

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound required to confirm the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for the delay in my response.
As your pregnancy test is negative than the chances of pregnancy are quite low.
This type of bleeding may occur due to hormonal changes, thyroid disorder, fibroid, cyst and infection.
Ultrasound may confirm the diagnosis but as you are not having any insurance, you can wait and watch for bleeding to get stop.
Meanwhile if possible if bleeding continue you can consult a Gynecologist and get yourself examined to rule out the cause and medicine should be taken to stop the bleeding.
Hope found useful.
Good luck.
Regards
