Brief Answer:
The bleeding can be nothing, but can also be a lesion in the uterus.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HealthcareMagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

The uterine bleeding during peri-menopause, most probably will be nothing to worry about- maybe just a period which is expected to not be normal.

But also, that bleeding may be due to fibroids in the uterus but also due to any other endometrial pathology.

These would not be visible in a pap test, because PAP test rules out only pathology of the neck of the uterus. An abdominal ultrasound may be needed, and then other exams depending on how much profuse the bleeding will be and how much it will last.

So it is good that you are following this up and you have set an appointment with your doctor. I think it can wait until next week, because it is not an emergency and you don't need to worry about it before you confirm what is the cause.

Hope this is helpful to reassure you a bit.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
