What Causes Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding?

Question: I am 43 years old and have relatively normal cycles (typically 3 day menstruation). I've had 4 live births (3 C-section & 1 vbac) and a history of CIN 3 cervical dysplasia (22 years ago - cone biopsy, normal paps since).
My last period was Sept. 23-25th and unremarkable. I started having dark red to brown discharge Oct. 7th and it lasted through last night, Oct. 10th. It was not like a period but is was heavy enough to require a liner. I made an appointment with my PCP (I don't have a GYN) for Wednesday morning. My question is, do I still need to be seen if it's stopped on its own?
Also, my hormone levels were tested in 2015 to check to see if I might be premenopausal (for another matter) and I was found to have an abundance of estrogen and nowhere near menopausal.

Brief Answer:
Consult an OBGYN
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Irregular bleeding and spotting at any age is abnormal, and can be due to hormonal disturbances, local lesions in the cervix or vagina or any problem in the uterus.
Therefore, it is always advisable to get a proper examination internally by an OBGYN specialist and get appropriate investigations and further management accordingly.
Iwill suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist for the same.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
