Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, there is nothing to be sorry about asking anything anytime, I'm happy to relieve you from all your anxiety before your marriage.
It is very common to have alteration in pattern of bleeding over time but in case you are still anxious you can repeat TSH levels after 4 weeks. But most likely they will be normal only and it is just due to your state of anxiety and overwork due to upcoming events.
Normal duration of flow ranges from 2-7 days and flow amount from 20-100 ml of blood in each cycle.
So in my opinion nothing to worry.
Take care.

Hi doctor, i don't know if this is your field but i have an urgent question:

My grandmother had a heart operation, a valve replacement, four weeks ago she was discharged and then got an infection in the blood, and was admitted again. They gave her about 20 bottles of Anti-biotic in drips. She came out of the hospital and then got gout. She is now taking medication for gout and medication for her heart.

She is incurring a lot of dirahheao, For diharrea she is taking Gastron which is generic medicine to ammonium.
When she eats a little even if its fruit or water she feels very sick and nausea and she vomits or dirrahea, Water diarrhoea, very little, like brown stones.

The dihrreao and vomit is causing her to be very weak and she can't walk or do anything, the diarrhoea is been for a week and she goes about 4-5 times a day.

If you can please help As soon as possible

She is currently taking this medication:
Lassix twice a day XXXXXXX twice a day
Gout medicine(Colchicine) twice a day
Plenish K twice a day
Glucophage once a day
Iron tablet
Purgoxin once a day 25 mg

And previous medical history:

Valve replacement recently 5 weeks ago,
uterus removed 10 years ago
knee operation/replacement

Brief Answer:
Remedies advised

Detailed Answer:
I'm happy to inform you that my husband is q cardiologist.
Coming to the problem he is saying that she probably has developed this diarrhea because of digoxin whose dose must have been increased after the valve replacement.
So in his opinion visit her cardiologist and see if he can change it according to her tests results.
Till then give sporolac DS two tablets stat and then one tablet three times a day till she gets an appointment or relief.
Give her some yoghurt if at all she us able to take that even a little amount at frequent intervals.
Avoid tea and coffee as much as possible and visit her doctor by tomorrow.
All the best.

Thank you doctor and thank your husband from me, iv always admired XXXXXXX doctors.

Ok right, i will give her yogurt. We did call her cardiologist to inform her about this but he's saying that he doesn't know what is happening and it could be a cause of something in the stomach and we should go to a gastrosurgeon, as he says the heart operation was successful and its nothing to do with the heart.

However since the operation she hasnt been ok. she got an infection then back to hospital and on anti biotic and now for a week everything she eats she vomits or diharrea.

regarding to ur reply, what test would she need to do? and what is digoxin?
is it anything serious?

Thank you so much your honestly a star!

Brief Answer:
Gastroenterologist opinion is must

Detailed Answer:
Welcome dear.
Purgoxin has digoxin as salt so that must have been given by the cardiologist as follow up drug which can cause nausea and vomiting in certain patients.
But since he has assured that there is nothing from his angle then most likely problem is gastritis due to the high doses of antibiotic she has had in past week.
So try sporolac and yoghurt which will limit diarrhea and thus have a lot of relief.
Also give her some antacid syrup and some good antacid tablet in morning like pantoprazole or esmoprazole but these are prescription drugs.
But since she is a heart patient she should visit a gastroenterologist for proper examination along with these Simple drugs.
So visit a gastroenterologist for tha same and till then take the above Precautions.
All the best to her and she should be in pink of her health at the time of your wedding.
