What Causes An Episode Of Profuse Sweating And Blurred Vision?
Question: My husband was kneeling down praying in chapel this morning when he began sweating profusely and his vision became blured. He sat down and it weht away. He just had a visit with his cardiologist last week and everything is fine. he excercises 20 minutes daily. He is 85 years old and still works in our business. Should I be concerned? EG

Your husband had an episode of profound sweating and dizziness and blurred vision. This is what we call diaphoresis or excessive sweating. This can be a sign of heart disease or of low blood pressure. Despite having been seen last week I would recommend that he be seen again and rechecked for heart disease or possible medication changes. This could be nothing but to have such a profound change make me concerned that he may have had a mild heart attack or a transient ischemic attack.
