What Causes An Increase In PSA Levels?

Question: My PSA reading went from 2.1 to 3.1 in a year and a half do I need to worry?
Brief Answer:
urological investigation is required
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
any increase is a little worrisome but it's more so when it rises more than 0.5 every six months or when it's higher than the usual values for one's age. In your case it is less than 0.5/6 months and it's not high taking your age into account. Various causes may have fueled this change, including inflammatory disorders unrelated to malignancy.
So although it's unlikely to be cancer, a digital rectal examination would not go amiss.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind Regards!
