What Causes An Increase In The ALT And AST Levels?
Question: I had blood test today and my alt was 45 and my ast was 84. Just three months ago my alt was 30 and my ast was 38. should I go and have additional test done? I did drink ten beers yesterday anf also 800 milligrams of advil and took 20 mgs of Adderall. she didn't seem to concerned and told me if I continue to have pain in a few days I should go back.
Brief Answer:
The results are not too bad
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You haven't mentioned why you took advil and adderall. Since you mentioned pain, I suppose you had musculoskeletal pain and advil is a potent pain-killer.
If you had a muscle injury then AST elevation is expected. Your ALT is probably not that high (it depends on the laboratory's normal range).
Please note that transaminases elevation (ALT and AST) is considered serious when it is higher than 3-fold the upper normal value.
If you'd provide more details about your medical history and your current condition, I'll be able to provide a more personalized answer.
Kind Regards!
