What Causes An Irregular Bleeding?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I had unprotected sex with my husband on 6th March, after which I took an iPill. The next day we had sex again and the contraceptive method we were using failed and I had to take an iPill again on 8th of March. I then got my periods on the 24th of March and the flow was scanty (it lasted for 4 days). After this the bleeding stopped for a day and resumed -- this time I had normal flow and it lasted for a week (7days). But this cycle is continuing until today(12th April). -- Two days of normal flow, scanty flow and then it stops for a day. My periods then resume a day later. I am very worried. Please tell me what I can do to stop this.
Brief Answer:
Start taking regular oral contraceptive pills for 1- 2 cycles.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
You are having an irregular bleeding due to the hormonal disturbance caused by taking I-pill. This can be stopped by taking a regular contraceptive pill for 1-2 cycles. You can consult your gynecologist and get a regular contraceptive prescribed. Till then start taking iron supplements to prevent the anemia due to excessive blood loss.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Hi Dr XXXXXXX Tayal,
Thanks for your quick response. I was wondering if this continued bleeding is normal and if there is any chance it may have an impact on my chances of having a child later in life? I am asking this because I took two iPills.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
It will not affect chances of conception later.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Such irregular bleeding is normal after taking two I-pills. This will subside on its own in next few weeks. It will not affect your future child bearing. The periods will become regular on their own in next 1-2 cycles.
Hope my answer is helpful.
