Brief Answer:
No does not seem related to autoimmune etiology.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well if you have been diagnosed with shambergs disease , it is unlikely that it may reflect some underlying autoimmune etiology or related to your ankylosing spondylitis . Ideally skin biopsy should be done to establish the diagnosis but if your dermatologist is convinced regarding the diagnosis I dont see a reason to be concerned .
Take care.

Thank you for your reply.
So there is no link between Shamberg's disease and the known cardiac complications associated with ankylosing spondilitis ?
(example see article link http://www.clinexprheumatol.org/article.asp?a=1454 )
I am an RN and just want to be sure that the inflamed capillaries in my legs are not an early warning sign of systemic blood vessel inflammation.
Thank you for your expert consideration and response,

Brief Answer:
Follows.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,
There is no clear cut link between the two which has been established . See all these autoimmune diseases have overlapping spectrum so there is always a possibility of overlap that exists so we cannot be sure that you will not develop any other disease in future but at present it seems unlikely .
