What Causes Ankylosing Spondylitis In A Patient With Shamberg's Disease?
Question: Recently diagnosed with Shamberg's disease affecting lower legs bilat, Hx of ankylosing spondilitis, well managed on Humira, 28y/o F.
Could having Shamberg's purpura indicate that I may have more systemic inflammation of my larger blood vessels? And is this related to AS or my current treatment?

No does not seem related to autoimmune etiology.

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well if you have been diagnosed with shambergs disease , it is unlikely that it may reflect some underlying autoimmune etiology or related to your ankylosing spondylitis . Ideally skin biopsy should be done to establish the diagnosis but if your dermatologist is convinced regarding the diagnosis I dont see a reason to be concerned .

There is no clear cut link between the two which has been established . See all these autoimmune diseases have overlapping spectrum so there is always a possibility of overlap that exists so we cannot be sure that you will not develop any other disease in future but at present it seems unlikely .
