What Causes Anxiety And Panic Attacks After Taking Azithromycin?
I have been suffering from a sinusitis problem over the last three months, of which my doctor put me on a long term course of Azithromycin.
One of the side effects of the medication is anxiety and panic attacks, which my doctor prescribed Xanax.
I have also been getting anxiety due to a recent break up with my partner.
I have read that Xanax effects the way you sleep, in that it lessens the time your body spends in the third and fourth stages of sleep. If I take Xanax before bed, will this effect my recovery time from the sinusitis? I have not taken the Xanax yet, however I have been progressively getting better, but the anxiety is still there.
If I take Xanax before bed, will this delay my recovery time from the sinusitis?
Pleasehelp/
Thanks
No. xanax will not affect your recovery time
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
Xanax is a benzodiazepine group drug. It is very potent and chances of tolerance and dependence are there if taken for more than 6 weeks and also when it is taken more than the prescribed dose.
It is good drug for anxiety as well as also used off label for sleep problem. It does not interact with azithromycin as well as it will not affect your recovery time from the sinusitis irrespective of the time of the day (day time or before going to bed) it is taken.
If your anxiety or sinusitis is improving no need to take xanax regularly. When you feel severe anxiety(panic attack) you can take the same as and when required basis.
In conclusion it will not delay your recovery.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
