What Causes Anxiety And Restlessness While Suffering From Allergy?

Question: I have notices a pattern over the last 15 years. every spring time when the allergies start i almost go in to a psychosis....ex ream anxiety, restlessness, snapping at everyone around me. i have checked my self in to ER 5 times in the last week for panic attacks.
I live in Las Vegas one of the worst allergy places in the country.
I get really paranoid. Has anyone heard of this as the doctors are telling me its supposed to have the opposite effect.

Hello,
Thanks for using health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
However I would require a couple of more details to help you in answering your query in a better justified way.
1. Do you take any medicines for allergy? If so do the panics occur after starting the medicine or before taking the medicine?
2. How are you rest of the year? Are there occasional panics?
3. Any treatment taken?
Hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.
Regards and wish you good health,

No medicine for allergy.
2. How are you rest of the year? Are there occasional panics?
Very little panic. I have anxiety but nothing like in allergy season. I feel like the allergy release adrenaline. I start going crazy the same week as the first pollon.
3. Any treatment taken? No treatment taken. I tried an antihistamine years ago and made me restless.

Treatment of both illnesses is different
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for all the add on information. I understand that you have noticed some relation between the periods of allergy and panic attacks. As the etiology of panic attacks is still not known completely, it is possible that your hypothesis stands true. However as far as the treatment is considered, the treatment for both the illnesses is different. For Panic disorder, which concerns me, as the panics are so frequent and severe, you definitely need to take treatment for the same. This is a disorder of anxiety and occurs cause of imbalance of certain neurotransmitters in the brain. especially serotonin, nor adrenaline, and dopamine to some extent. Medicines are the best options to take care of these symptoms. Paroxetine is the the most popular medicine and my drug of choice. I generally prescribe my patients 12.5 mg per day at night which takes care of anxiety symptoms. Also certain medicines like propranolol and clonazepam can be give as required when there is a panic episode or expected situation where panic attack can appear.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
